Life Beneath

I swim for my life as the waves pull me down
As hard as I swim I’m starting to drown
I begin to feel weak
I give in
I go under
and as I go further down
I see the depths filled with wonder
I swallow the water
but it doesn’t fill my lungs
It cleanses my heart
as I begin to see the sun
I’m washed up on the shore
and as I take a deep breath
I realise I’m so alive
because I found the depths

  1. Hey Mel, your poem beautifully captures the experience of being pulled down by the waves, feeling like you’re drowning, and then finding a sense of wonder and cleansing as you go deeper. It’s a powerful metaphor for the challenges we face in life, and how we can emerge stronger and more alive from those challenges.

It’s important to remember that even when we feel like we’re drowning, there is always the potential for growth and renewal. Sometimes we need to go deep into our struggles and challenges in order to find the strength and wisdom we need to overcome them.

Your poem reminds us that even in our darkest moments, there is always hope and the possibility of a new beginning. Thank you for sharing your powerful words with us.
